Looking for the perfect course to practice your golf swing? Here are the local country clubs and courses you should try out.

April 10th is recognized as Golfer's Day, so whether you're a newbie or a seasoned golfer, head out to one of Midland's beautiful courses to play a round. The area has a good mix of public and private courses so you're free to join a country club if you'd like or simply try some of the area's public fairways.

Our REALTORS® recommend visiting the following local courses and country clubs to refine your golf game:

  • Currie Golf Courses - 1300 Currie Pkwy., Midland, MI 48640
You'll have your choice of three courses at Currie Golf Courses. The 18-hole Currie West features a modern design that's been carved out of the naturally wooded landscape. Since it has five tee boxes, you'll enjoy the course whether you're a casual or experienced golfer. Currie East is a 9-hole course that also accommodates all levels of golfers with its 3 tee boxes. If you're getting started at golf or want to improve your short game, spend some time at the Currie Par 3 Course, which has a driving range, practice bunker, and practice putting green. And if you don't have your own clubs yet, you can borrow some of Currie's with a paid game of golf.

  • Midland Country Club - 1120 W. St. Andrews Rd., Midland, MI 48640
Since 1928, Midland Country Club, located in the town's center, has provided its members with a beautiful course, clubhouse, and other amenities. Today's clubhouse and golf course opened in 2010, continues the country club's tradition of excellence and hosts the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, an LPGA Tour event. If you'd like to practice, the Short Game Practice area has been completely renovated to include green for 60-70 yard pitch shots and another for chipping and bunker shots. If you'd like to work on your long game, you'll also find netted outdoor hitting bays at the country club.

  • Beech Hollow Golf Course - 7494 Hospital Rd., Freeland, MI 48623
Located about equal distance from Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland, Beech Hollow Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course. It has water hazards as well as mature trees and is enjoyable yet challenging for all skill and experience levels. If you'd like to join a golf league, the course hosts many such groups, including ones for men, women, seniors, or couples. Leagues are hosted through the week and on weekends during the mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

  • White Birch Hills Golf Course - 360 Ott Rd., Bay City, MI 48706
White Birch Hills Golf Course opened in 1949 and still operates as a public golf course. It's known for having very affordable greens fees, and reviewers say it's a relatively easy course that's great for beginners. It offers two sets of tees to accommodate different skill levels, with the course measuring 5,625 yards from the longest tee.

  • Sandy Ridge Golf Course - 2750 Lauria Rd., Midland, MI 48642
    Sandy Ridge Golf Course
is an 18-hole public course that's 6,376 yards and a par 72. It has "push up" bent grass greens, and most of its fairways are tree-lined. Three sets of tees are available, and the course contains a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, making it a good course for beginners as well as more experienced players. You can also enjoy some nice amenities such as a new fleet of golf courts, a full bar and grill, and a large covered deck area.
